How campgrounds are run in Newfoundland and Labrador
ParksNL provincial parks
ParksNL runs 13 camping parks. Paid jobs are advertised on the government's Public Career Opportunities portal. Search park attendant, park maintenance, campground, seasonal and the park name. No ParksNL volunteer host programme was found.
Former provincial campgrounds
Several former provincial campgrounds are now run by private businesses beside protected park reserves. The reserves themselves are not open for camping. Contact the business that runs the campground, not the reserve.
Pippy Park and national parks
The C.A. Pippy Park Commission, a Crown corporation, hires seasonal and student staff for its St. John's campground. Parks Canada hires for Gros Morne and Terra Nova through its national jobs site.
Municipal leases
Some towns lease their campgrounds to a contractor. Gambo leased David Smallwood Park for 2026. The contractor, not the town, would hire the staff.
Labrador
Labrador has four separate areas: Pinware River on the south coast, Gosling Lake in central Labrador, Duley Lake in Labrador West and the Torngat base camp in Nunatsiavut. Remote base-camp work has different travel, rotation and accommodation terms. Ask the employer for these details.
Paid jobs, volunteer hosting and contracts
Paid seasonal jobs exist with ParksNL, Pippy Park, Parks Canada and Arctic Kingdom at the Torngat base camp in Labrador. Campground lease tenders exist, such as Gambo's David Smallwood Park (closed April 2026), and Nunatsiavut Government issues base-camp maintenance contracts. No volunteer host or site-for-work programme was verified.

Job titles to search
Many campground jobs here are not called "camp host". Search these titles on employer and government job pages.
Before you apply
- ParksNL's 2026 park seasons ended in September, so summer park jobs are not open in October.
- Terra Nova's local job page showed no current postings on 9 October 2026.
- Protected provincial park reserves are not open to camping and do not employ hosts; the adjacent private campgrounds do the hiring.
- Labrador: Torngat base-camp work is remote; guest flights and meals do not mean staff get them, so ask about travel, rotation and accommodation.
- Labrador: Pinware River is reached by road on Route 510; no staff RV site was confirmed.
