About Bear Mtn Community Forest
The Bear Mtn Community Forest consists of three individual recreation opportunities.
The Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Trails are primarily used for cross country skiing and snowshoeing within the winter months and hiking in the summer months. The trail system also includes a few warming shelters. This recreation feature is managed in partnership with Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Association (nordicski.ca). The trailhead is located at km 4 on the Radar Lake / Bear Mountain Wind Park Road.
Paradise Valley Motorized Trail System is for ATV, UTV and snowmobile enjoyment. This trail system consists of over 250kms and includes multiple warming shelters. This recreation feature is managed in partnership with Paradise Valley Snowmobile Association (www.facebook.com/pvsadawsoncreek). The trailhead is located at km 3 on the Radar Lake / Bear Mountain Wind Park Road.
Radar Lake and Interpretive Trails are used for day use picnicking, hiking, kayaking and wildlife viewing. This site includes a viewing platform, boardwalk, and small looped walking trails. The picnic area includes two tables, two fire rings, and a pit toilet. Radar Lake is managed in partnership with various volunteers. It is located at km 6 on the Radar Lake / Bear Mountain Wind Park Road.
Bear Mountain Wind Park is another point of interest within the community forest. Wind towers and multiple walking paths are abundant along the ridge. Please note that this area is not managed or maintained for recreational activities.

Getting there
From Dawson Creek, take Hwy 2 to the southern edge of Dawson Creek. Head west on the Dangerous Goods Route, drive 3.2 km. Turn left (west) onto the Adam's Road and drive 1.7 km. Turn left (south) on to the 223 Road drive 1.6 km. Continue straight onto the Radar Lake / Bear Mountain Wind Park Road, travel to the desired km noted above. Please take note that the Radar Lake / Bear Mountain Wind Park Road is an active industrial road and may have heavy traffic.
